How To Find New Energy

What comes to mind when you think about your energy? For me, it wasn’t even something I consciously thought about for many years. I spent most days just going through the motions.

A plant based diet healed me energetically. We all know that exercise is essential to our well being. The first step is finding intrinsic motivation to just begin. Admittedly, we all have days where we just don’t do it. It’s important to give ourselves grace as well; the balance of it all.

Healing energetically for me meant that I was giving my body the nutrients it needed, which allowed me to discover the practice of yoga. In this practice, I discovered so much more than exercise.

“I discovered strength, calm, and true friendships; I discovered myself.”

— April Duckworth

I attribute being able to practice yoga, and fully embracing the teachings, to my diet. The state of consciousness and awareness that a plant based diet creates for me allows me to be much more mindful and aware.

I look forward to sharing more with you about what I eat during the day to maintain energy and life as a working toddler Mom!

I’ll start by giving a preview of our breakfast to come in a couple of weeks... oatmeal! I’m so serious when I tell you that our morning oatmeal is my favorite meal of the day! I will be sharing that recipe very soon!

This week, I thought it important to focus on greens (specifically, spinach and kale). We all know it can be challenging to get them into our daily meals. My husband and I have found a way! We actually eat spinach and kale twice a day, almost every single day. We have a salad alongside both lunch and dinner.
My husband discovered the secret to make this happen about three years ago.... his homemade oil-free salad dressing, which I am so happy to share with you!

Dr. Michael Greger lists greens as part of his Daily Dozen: foods you should eat every day to live not only a high-quality life but a long one too. The reason? “Dark-green, leafy vegetables are the healthiest foods on the planet.”
