Earth Day

Today is Earth Day, but we are fully committed to creating a sustainable lifestyle every day, and to sharing the importance of it. Choosing to eat plant-based is not only extremely beneficial to our health, but also to the health of our planet. Industrial agriculture causes extreme and mass environmental degradation.

Experts say that eliminating the consumption of animal products is the single greatest thing humans can do to alleviate climate change.

Additionally, we also know that the products we use each and every day matter as well. We are committed to using products that are biodegradable, recycled, and that are made from recycled materials. We make every effort to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible in all ways.

I say wholeheartedly that once you choose to adopt a fully plant based lifestyle, every day becomes Earth Day. We know that we are creating a better world for our children and future generations, and also ethically, making the choice to stop cruelty to animals.

This was most definitely a part of my decision to become fully plant-based, and an integral part of my recovery from an eating disorder. The knowledge of eating compassionately certainly helped me to heal my relationship with food. It is truly a gift to sit down for a meal with family, all sharing in beautiful and bountiful plant foods, that cause no harm to anyone or anything; but rather nourish us completely and prevent disease, while also making an incredible positive impact on our environment and animal welfare.

As a parent, my thoughts, goals, hopes, and aspirations have changed; everything is even more important. That said, I feel even more called each and every day to share the importance of adopting a plant based lifestyle and using sustainable products in our daily lives. What does this mean? I am happy to share examples, and will be doing so via our Instagram page. First and foremost, no plastic. I know this can seem like a difficult transition, but it is certainly possible! We use glass jars to reduce plastic containers for storage, and make every effort when we are out to reduce the use of plastic as well. We can always strive to do better, and I think that is important to note, because, of course, none of us are perfect. We can, however, make an incredible impact through our daily choices.

This year, as a family, we are learning more about gardening. We finally have ample space, and have been visiting our local greenhouse, talking to neighbors, and taking time to read and learn on our own. This is most definitely still a work in progress for us, and we are absolutely starting with just a few plants. The process itself is really beautiful, and as a family, very important to us to share with our little one.

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”

― Audrey Hepburn

When I think of creating a better world for future generations, I only imagine it as a plant based world. The beauty in a lifestyle that does not inflict harm or pain, and that allows us to care for our planet, the animals, and ourselves, is truly a beautiful one.

Let’s make every day Earth Day… I am here to support you and offer inspiration and guidance to help you where you are on your journey to a plant-based lifestyle.

“The most ethical diet just so happens to be the most environmentally sound diet and just so happens to be the healthiest.”

― Dr. Michael Greger
